EYFS takes over North Bay and the Sea Life Centre!
In Early Years we have been learning all about sea creatures and discussing how we keep ourselves safe on the beach, so what better places to visit on our school trip other than the 'Sea Life Centre' and 'North Bay Beach'. The children were very excited when the busses arrived to take us on our adventure "I'm going to build a massive sandcastle" said one child. On the bus the children cheered and pointed out their houses to each other as we set off to the beach.
When we arrived at the Beach the children were super sensible and remembered how to be safe as we made our way to the sand. After our safety talk by Mrs. Finley we got very busy making sand castles and burrying our legs in the sand. Mrs. Casling made a 'sand angel!'
Before we knew it, it is was time to make our way to the Seal Life Centre. Yet again the children were super sensible as we walked along the path to the Sea Life Centre. When we arrived we were just in time to watch the sea lion show!
After we all 'oooh'd' and 'ahhh'd' at the sea lions we were very hungry, so we very quickly devoured our packed lunches yum yum.
During the afternoon we all had a chance to explore the Sea Life Centre in our groups. We discovered penguins, jelly fish, sea horses, octopuses, turtles, sting rays, sharks and SO much more...
Some of us were brave enough to touch hermit crabs, sea anenomes, shrimps and star fish. "It's like sand paper" one child said when they were touching a star fish.
After a marvellous day we made our way back to school, excitedly sharing with each other our best bit of the day. When we safely arrived back in our classroom one child said to his friend "why did the day have to go so quickly!" We all had such a fantastic time and are now looking forward to celebrating and sharing our discoveries with our parents tomorrow afternoon for our open afternoon.
We would like to say a big thank you to our parents who came and supported us today on our adventure. I think we will all sleep well tonight!
